Airsoft guns fill the gap of allowing civilians to try out military grade firearms; at least, aesthetically. Most airsoft gun replicate real guns so exactly that it's difficult to tell the airsoft gun from the real steel firearm at a glance. And that's the biggest thrill of playing with an airsoft gun in a modern day military simulation (MilSim).

In the past, underbarrel airsoft shotguns only shot one or two BB's. It wasn't until Airsoft3D designed the Helio M726 Underbarrel Shotgun to use APS CAM870 airsoft shotgun shells and Goblin Solo shotshells that brought a realistic firing underbarrel airsoft shotgun to the market. Ironically, the Helio M726 Underbarrel Shotgun is a futuristic, science fiction underbarrel shotgun.
The Helio M726 Underbarrel Shotgun comes in three lengths. The long version is what you'd associate as an shotgun, because it has a long barrel. The full length version is long enough to cover the entire Hakkotsu 12 Gauge airsoft shotgun shell. The short version is about half the length of the shotgun shell that provides a very interesting look.
So far, no movies nor TV shows have used this scifi underbarrel shotguns yet. But don't you think it's about time that the entertainment industry slaps one of these babies onto one of the other futuristic airsoft guns in this article?

The APS ASR106 Mini Patriot M4 is now being sold as the Black Ops Full Metal M4 Cobra on Amazon. See "Related Links" section below.
The APS ASR106 Mini Patriot M4 is a replica of "The Patriot" from the Metal Gear video game franchise. It is used by "The Boss" and "Big Boss". The main character, Snake, acquires this weapon after defeating the boss. See "Related Links" for more detail about "The Patriot" gun.
The image on the left (above) is the actual airsoft gun. The image on the right (above) is "The Patriot" in the video game. If you look closely, you'll see that the video game version has drum magazine, M16 handguard, and M16 handle. You can get these upgrades for the airsoft version of the gun to make it look just like "The Patriot". See the "APS ASR106 Mini Patriot M4 to The Patriot Conversion" article.
APS has, for the first time, invented an airsoft assault rifle completely from scratch. The APS Urban Assault Rifle (UAR) is a brand new airsoft rifle with no real steel firearm counterpart. Therefore, it is considered as a science fiction weapon. Though word has it that APS is pursuing real firearm manufacturers to build this weapon.
The airsoft gun is available in both black and dark earth colors. So far, no movies nor TV shows have used this scifi gun yet. But let's keep our fingers crossed that this airsoft gun will make it into the starlight soon.
This gun shown up mysteriously on YouTube (see video below) with the following quote from Evike, "Salvaged from a Deep Space crash, a sneak peek at the CB-88." It was brought to the masses' attention during its give away in Evike's Box of Awesomeness on October 3, 2013.
For long time Halo fans, it's obvious that the Chrono Blaster CB-88 is an airsoft replica of the MA5 assault rifle in Halo. The airsoft rifle is shown below on the left, while the video game rifle (MA5B) is shown below on the right.
It is made out of nylon-reinforced polymer with a working LCD bullet counter that runs on 9v batter. It also has a build-in tactical flashlight, that could come in handy as you explore the Forerunners and Flood spaceships. At this time, many specs are still to be determined.
Chrono Blaster (AEG-CB88) was available on Evike for pre-order, with estimated shipping of March, 2014. The shipped price is approximately $419.46. However, when March came about, the Chrono Blaster CB-88 product page mysteriously disappeared from Evike's web site. Only a thorough advanced search on the Internet revealed that Evike cancelled all CB-88 orders due to licensing issues (see "Related Links" section below).
However, in the Box of Awesomeness - The "Big Bang" Edition (activated 2014/01/05), Evike revealed that it will provide the Chrono Blaster CB-88 via special order through this statement: 'EMG custom built fan inspired "VERY LIMITED EDITION" 1:1 scale Chrono Blaster. Only available via BOA & Evike superstore special order.' The retail price is listed at $800.
Echo1 continues in its obsession to build airsoft guns that doesn't have real steel counterpart. And that's a great thing, because we now have awesome looking airsoft guns like the MTC3. MTC stands for Modular Tactical Carbine. There are already two iterations before, but the latest looks very science fictional.
If you haven't noticed already, the MTC3 is based on the Heckler & Koch G36 airsoft replica. Therefore, the receiver is polymer, while the tactical rails are metal. It shoots about 380 FPS. So it is very capable on the airsoft field.
Hollywood hasn't used this gun in their movies yet. But maybe they should. There are so many recent science fiction movies that are ruined by the use of today's firearms. For example, all of the guns used in the Terminator Salvation movie are based on modern firearms. Despite all of the special effects for future technology, not one science fiction gun shows up in this movie. The movie could have been so much better if we are to see something like the Echo1 MTC3 in the hands of the freedom fighters.
Echo1 is starting to lead the pack with airsoft guns that has no real steel counterparts. They started with the Zombat Stryker M4 (see below) originally. Now they released two more rifles in the Special Operations Branch (SOB) series. The first one is SOB 1 JP-58 and the second one is SOB 2 JP-59.
Photos above shows the SOB 1 on the left and the SOB 2 on the right.
The SOB guns seems to be a cross-bred between the popular H&K MP5 and M4. Both SOB guns uses the MP5 body with a straight magazine (versus the normally curved MP5 magazine). The MP5 rear stock is replaced with a M4 collapsible crane stock. A Swordfish conversion is done to the top and bottom of the guns, providing two rails for accessories.
The handguard is where the two guns differ the most. On the SOB 1, the front MP5 handguard is replaced with a handguard similar to the MP5-SD6. The SOB 2, on the other hand, has a left and right rails, similar to CQB M4, for even more accessories.
So far, these SOB rifles haven't shown up in the entertainment industry. But we'll keep our fingers crossed that they show up in scifi flicks.
The Echo1 Zombat Stryker M4 JP-39PB didn't come out of any movies. However, it is still the result-bearing fruit of the zombie-obsessed, entertainment industry. Nevertheless, Zombat Stryker M4 is a very cool fictional gun. Even with no zombies around, your fellow airsoft players will surely take it quite seriously.
The Evike Custom Swordfish-series airsoft electronic guns (AEG) look similar to Echo1 Zombie Striker, except it is based on the MP5, rather than the M4. There are two variations in the Swordfish-series: 1) Swordfish PDW (left photo); and 2) Swordfish-K (right photo).
The Swordfish PDW is exactly the same as the Swordfish-K, except it has a fold-able shoulder stock. The MP5 magazine on the PDW is curved, while the Swordfish-K has a longer straight MP5 magazine. Price are the same between the two guns, so it seems the PDW is a better buy, because you an always remove the shoulder stock yourself.
So far, no one in the entertainment industry has used these guns for the big screen. They would be perfect in a zombie scifi movie, don't you think?
The Evike Custom Terminator airsoft electronic gun looks like a monstrosity at first. But it could grow on you. Despite the name, it has nothing to do with the Terminator movies. It is a futuristic gun that is custom build out of the FN P90 and parts from other airsoft guns (like the M4).
So far, no one in the entertainment industry has used this gun for the big screen. But maybe they should give it a chance.
The Goblin Solo looks like a small concealable pistol. But it provides much more fire power. In the airsoft world, it is actually a BB shotgun, firing from a shotgun shell like air cartridge. This miniature airsoft shotgun obviously doesn't exist in the real world. It's steampunk look places it right into the future.
So far, the Goblin Solo is not in any science fiction film. But it would be kinda cool if the antagonist pull out this one shot weapon at the climax to take out someone important.
By the way, the Goblin Solo can also shoot a single paintball when a quick change in the shotgun shell hull. So if you ever get tired of airsoft, you can always use it to shoot paintballs for a change.
The JG Thunder Maul (Ikazuchi) is a really strange and futuristic gun. It's bulk really doesn't seem to make the gun all that effective. But it's the future, what do I know? Recent version of the gun allows top rails to be mounted for aiming devices to improve efficiency. The JG Thunder Maul is based on the M4 platform, so M4 magazines and parts can be used on this gun.
Most people claims that this gun is from the "Ghost in the Shell" anime series. After going to pages after pages of Google images of "Ghost in the Shell" guns, I can safely conclude that this gun never appeared in "Ghost in the Shell".
This is a gun that is made up completely by JG. However, it has made its way into the "Continuum" scifi show as the "Futuristic Police Assault Rifles". Although the cart came before the horse, this is still a thrilling airsoft gun for the pop culture.

For Aliens movie fans, the marine assault rifle is finally available as a airsoft gun. It even has a working LED counter to show number of rounds fired, just like in the Aliens movie. Now you can get one of these airsoft guns and be prepared for the alien invasion on Earth.
The airsoft rifle on the left (above), while the rifle being used in the movie on the right (above). The airsoft version of the rifle is based on the Thompson airsoft gun, so many parts can be interchangeable. However, it uses a modified Thompson magazine.
The Off World REC Blaster is a replica of the futuristic pistol used by Jean Claude Van Damme in the "Timecop" movie. The airsoft version looks quite lethal, but sights can't be attached to make it more accurate. Power by gas, it pack quite a punch.

The Off World Super Charge Blaster is a replica of the Colonial Handgun portrayed in season 1 of Battlestar Galactica (2004). It has the look of a futuristic pistol, but the style of an old-fashion revolver.

Nothing was more menacing than the Robocop Auto-9 automatic pistol. During the movie, all the cops watched Robocop firing it at the shooting range in awe. And that's how we the audience felt when Robocop fired it in controlled bursts.
In real life, the Robocop Auto-9 is a modified version of the Beretta m93R with a 21 round magazine. However, it has been modified for three shot burst, seven shot burst, and full auto for the movies. The fictional statistics of the gun shows a 50-round magazine. All of these variants provides you with a lot of possibilities in your airsoft game.
The fully automatic Robocop airsoft pistol brings your airsoft play onto the next level. When your fellow players complain about a full automatic pistol on the field, the best response would be, "This Robocop pistol is as authentic as it gets!"

Since its invention in the Robocop movie, the Auto-9 has made its way into several other movies, such as Sin City (2005), City Hunter (1993), and Dracula 3000 (2004).
The Umarex XBG Carbine Conversion Kit. Although this kit is based on the same concept as the CAA RONI, it has no real steel equivalent. This conversion kit converts the HK USP, S&W MP40 BB, Walther P99 Airsoft or the Combat Zone Enforcer into a carbine with Picatinny weaver rails all around. It even comes with a quick-detachable, foldable, ergonomic foregrip. It's shoulder stock is foldable for maneuver in tight spaces.
So far, the Umarex XBG Carbine Conversion Kit hasn't shown up in the movies, TV shows, or the rest of the entertainment industry. But we would be looking forward to seeing it show up in new productions.
For those of you who want an scifi airsoft pistol, but don't want to deviate from the look of a normal pistol, look no further than the WE Silver Dragon 7" gas blowback (GBB) pistol (see photo below).
The WE Silver Dragon 7" GBB is based on the Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa 5.1 design, which resembles the 1911, but has no real-firearm counterpart. Compared to the 1911 airsoft gun, the Hi-Capa has the double stack magazines, wider frame, and wider grip. The WE Silver Dragon 7" takes the airsoft pistol further into the extreme by using an aggressive, spiked meat pounder front barrel. It is very similar to the one used on the Echo1 Zombat Stryker M4 JP-39PB for attacking zombies.
Currently the WE Silver Dragon 7" GBB pistol isn't used in any movies and TV shows. But we really think it should be!
