Real firearms are loud. Therefore, the use of subsonic rounds and silencers is a big deal. So the foremost thing on a sniper's mind is always the rifle's decibel.
Hence, when it comes to airsoft, an airsoft sniper should be wondering the same thing. Just how loud are various guns? In this article, we answer the question with actual measured data.
In this test, we measured the sound with a Google LG Nexus 5. We downloaded the "Sound Meter Lite" Android app from Google Play. This app seemed well calibrated to the Nexus 5, because it presented a list of decibels at various locations. When we tested the app at those locations, the sound level were close, if not spot on.
