During AirSplat's "$1 GBB Pistol Deal". I jumped on it and got the WE F226, a full metal gas blowback (GBB), pistol for a buck. Originally, I had intended to pick up three WE F226 gas magazines, usually around $30 each, to make up the $100 necessary for the deal. However, AirSplat didn't have the WE F226 magazines. Instead, it had the KJW P226 magazines. Some folks on forums were saying they are interchangeable. So I took a chance and ordered a KJW P226 magazine with the WE F226.
This article will compare the two to help you make an informed decision.
From the top (see photo above), they look pretty much identical. The WE magazine is on the left. The KJW magazine is on the right. The gas release buttons are slightly different, but no big deal.
From the bottom of the two magazines, in the photo above, you can see quite a difference. The WE magazine, on the left, is indented in. The KJW magazine on the other hand does not have the indent. It also has the "KJWorks" stamped on it. But the bottom of the mags has no effect on the gun, so this difference is not a factor on whether the magazines are interchangeable.
In the photo above, we get to see the gas release button more clearly. The WE magazine is on top, while the KJW magazine is on the bottom. Other than that, there is very little physical difference between the two gas magazines.
The photo above shows the side of the two mags. The WE magazine is on top, while the KJW magazine is on the bottom. The features are practically identical. The WE magazine has a matte texture. The KJW magazine has a semi-gloss texture.
The WE magazine holds 23 rounds, while KJW magazine holds 26 rounds. If the number of rounds is important to you, then KJW wins hands down. Keep in mind that the real P226 magazine holds 20 rounds max, so both of these airsoft magazine can emulate the real P226 magazine just fine.
The chance I took worked out. The KJW P226 magazine seemed compatible with the WE F226. I was able to insert the magazine into the airsoft pistol. Using propane, I tested both magazines inside the WE F226 pistol and they both fire just fine.
RedWolf Airsoft created a YouTube video titled, "Best of the Best P226?". In this video, they compared four different P226 airsoft pistols from TM, KWC, KJW, and WE. In one portion of the video, they demonstrated the magazine compatibility between the four guns. The following is that video.
