The Ultimate Arms Gear Tactical 4 Reticle Sight (JH400) provides a red dot sight for your firearm. Unlike a red dot scope, the Ultimate Arms Gear Tactical 4 Reticle Sight provide a single pane holographic sight that allows you to watch the battlefield while aiming with the red dot.
The Ultimate Arms Gear Tactical 4 Reticle Sight (JH400) package includes the red dot sight, a rubber cover for the sight, two allen hex wrenches (same size), a cleaning cloth, and instruction sheet.
The on/off knob is an eight position knob. Position 0 is off, while position 1 through 7 provides different brightness settings. Position 1 is the dimmest setting and position 7 is the brightest setting. When the sight has been off for a while, it takes a few seconds for the LED to charge up and turn on. Because of this delay, you'll want to keep the sight turned on during an airsoft or paintball battle.
On the brightest setting, the dot is bright and clear on the holographic screen. But when you look from the front of the sight, you can hardly see the pinpoint light source; it won't give your position away to your enemy. In the lowest setting, the light source is not visible at all from the front of the sight.
The elevation and windage adjustments requires the use of the allen wrenches, which is great once you dial it in, because there would be no accidental adjustments.
The elevation adjustment is located on the top of the sight, behind the on/off knob. It shows turning counter-clockwise is up. At first, I interpret it to mean moving the red dot up. But it really mean moving the target up.
The windage adjustment is located on the left side. It shows turning conter-clockwise as right. Much like the elevation adjustment, it means you will move the target to the right by turning counter-clockwise.
The Ultimate Arms Gear Tactical 4 Reticle Sight (JH400) uses one CR2032 button battery, which is pretty much a standard among electronic devices. The battery is located under a cover above the on/off knob (see photo below). A coin slot allows you to turn the cover. It's very close to the holographic screen, so be careful when you unscrew it with a coin.
As the name suggest, this red dot sight actually comes with more than just the red dot reticles. It actually comes with four: 1) red dot surrounded by a circle surrounded by crosshair; 2) red dot; 3) red dot with crosshair; 4) red dot with circle. A switch (see photo below) at the back of the sight provide the ability to change between the four reticles.
The mount is MIL-STD-1913 bracket that works on pretty much any standard Picatinny Weaver rails. It is easy to install with the included allen wrenches, but it would be better if it has thumbscrews rather than hex screws. Being able to attachable/detachable at will, rather than needing extra tools, would be a real plus.
The sight and mount are metal and seem very sturdy. The glass itself is gold and reflective, much like all red dot holographic sights. The sight looks great on the APS ASR106 Mini Patriot M4 airsoft gun (shown below). Texture is practically the same.
With an airsoft/paintball mask, it's difficult to aim through the sight. But that's typically the case with any airsoft/paintball mask. This sight does not come with a riser for airsoft/paintball play. If that's your application, you might consider getting a riser for it.
After sighting the red dot to about thirty feet range in the backyard, I took it to an indoor CQB arena. As long as I got the red dot on the enemy, my shot was usually a hit. Worked great with head shots when enemy combatants poked their heads out of the bunker. At the highest brightness, I can still see the red dot while aiming at target lit by bright sunlight.
I used it on the APS ASR106 Mini Patriot M4 (shown in the photo above). It doesn't have a rifle stock. So I was able to use the Ultimate Arms Gear Tactical 4 Reticle Sight with full face mask without a riser.
