While attending the AZTEC Zombie Apocalypse event at Code Red Airsoft Park, I received their Zombie Outbreak Response Team patch (see photo below). It's a cool patch. The problem is that it is just a sticker. And you know how it goes with stickers. I would rather it be a permanent patch that I can move from one vest to another. In this article, I will show you how to turn a sticker patch into a real Velcro-backed patch.
One possibility is to stick the patch onto a cardboard and cut it out. But that's not permanent enough, as Airsoft BB's will rip the cardboard into pieces.
A harder backing is necessary for airsoft battles. All you need is some old gift cards, credit cards, or other promotional cards that is made out of plastic. Flat gift cards are better for this purpose than credit cards that has raised letters. The flatness is easier to work with.
I happened to be a card junkie and I kept all cards that pass through my hands. So I picked out two promotional plastic cards, that are the same thickness, from my collection of cards. I lined up the two cards and stuck the sticker patch to the cards (see photo below).
Be sure to use a tape to fasten the two plastic cards together on the back, so that it becomes one stiff patch.
With a pair of scissors, cut the cards to the shape of the patch (see photo below).
In the final step, you can add an adhesive-backed Velcro strip to the patch you just made (see photo above). You should use the hook side of the Velcro on the patch. With the Velcro, you can easily move the patch from one uniform to another.
