So we've been playing airsoft a lot recently. And one of our tactical discussions includes Dummy Grenade Tactics. After all, Thunder B grenades can be quite costly with its disposable shells. But throwing reusable dummy grenades aren't so bad.
Two days ago, when I was at the local Target department store, I bumped into some clearance toys. The Spy Gear Sonic Distractors were being cleared out at $2.98 a box (see photo below). The retail packaging looks great on the toys department display.
The photo below shows all of the items included: a gray distraction grenade, a black distraction grenade, a belt carrier for the two grenades, and the instruction sheet.
The following photo shows what the grenades looks like inside the belt carrier. They are rather easy to put in and remove. And they seem to be fastened enough that they won't fall out while running around.
The way these grenades work is you press the button to turn it on. A LED will light up. Then you hold the button down for about three seconds to activate it; the LED will blink slowly at first and blink rapidly when time is up. Six seconds later, the sound will go off. Each grenade contains four distinct sounds. The gray and black grenades have different set of sounds. The video below demonstrate the operation and the sounds that the grey grenade makes.

The Spy Gear Sonic Distractors grenade has a small battery compartment cover fastened by a Phillips screw. After removing the screw, three buttons cell batteries are revealed (see photo below).
The Spy Gear Sonic Distractors grenade is powered by three LR44 button cell batteries (see photo below).
I haven't taken these Spy Gear Sonic Distractors to an airsoft field yet. But here is someone, who thought to do the same thing, has to say about them on an airsoft field:
"I got these for my 17-year-old brother so that he could use them during his airsoft games. Well, they're really not loud enough to distract anyone in such a setting. Indoors they're about TV volume so I imagine outdoors you wouldn't even be able to hear them unless you were within 10 feet or so." - Amazon review excerpt (see "Related Links" below).
