AirSplat had a super sale during the Christmas holidays. So we picked up a JG M5-S6 MP5-SD3 airsoft gun and a bunch of J&C Automatic Electronic Gun MP5 Metal Mid-Cap Magazines. When they arrived, they were packed like the photo below. The packaging is nothing to write home about. But the quality of the magazine is quite good.
The magazine is metal, no winding, mid-cap, and fits the MP5 electronic airsoft rifle. The finish is matte black, which reflects very little light.
The top of the magazine is the typical feeder. To load these type of mid-cap magazines, you'll need a speed-loader. The benefit is that the magazine won't rattle with loaded BB's.
Unlike M4 mid-cap magazines, there isn't a switch to unload all BB's at once. It makes it difficult to unload the magazine at the end of the game.
The bottom of this mid-cap magazine is clipped on (see photo below). You can easily remove it. But there is no real reason to, as you'll see in the "Disassembly" section.
I was able to load about 50 to 60 rounds into this magazine. With this kind of capacity, it's practically a real-cap magazine. This magazine is perfect for MilSim play.
Using your fingernail or a flat-head screwdriver, you can easily remove the bottom metal panel. The following photo shows what you'd see if you did that. But there is no real purpose to remove the bottom panel.
The plastic insert inside the metal shell is held in place with a pin at the top of the magazine (see photo below). Tapping out this pin will allow you to remove the plastic insert for service.
