It was 2014. Our crew was getting ready for Evike's Airsoft Camp. The event information said we needed a watch. At the time, I was building a science fiction loadout for future zombie airsoft events. So I bought this Elegant Plane Style Digital Display LED Silicone Wrist Watch Black off Amazon for about $12. It looked futuristic (see photo below), but also looked great and low profile for today's MilSim events. It turned out that we didn't use the watch at all at Airsoft Camp 2014. But I was sure it will come in handy in all future MilSims to come.
Unlike most modern digital watches that has a white face, the Elegant Plane Style digital watch has an inverted, black face. It makes the watch feel even more covert and will not stand out in an airsoft operation.
You can push the "LIGHT" button to turn on the blue light as shown in the photo below. Unfortunately, the lighting is uneven, although useable.
What's cool about the lighting is that you can change to various different colors. Just hold the "LIGHT" button down for three seconds and the light will cycle through the colors. In one mode, it even blinks rapidly through all the lights. Maybe you can use it as a distract signal in an night operation.
The wrist band on the watch is a thick rubber (see photo below). It is very robust; much more so than typical digital watches. I think it will stand up to abuse on the airsoft field.
The watch face says "WATER RESIST". So it should be no problem getting it wet on an airsoft operation. Amazon's page says it's waterproof down to 30 meters.
For $12, there is hardly any drawbacks. The only problem is that the instruction sheet sucks. I couldn't understand it at all. It has taken me some time to figure out how to use it. So I will document all the modes in the rest of this article.
Press the "MODE" button three times to start setting the time. To change the blinking field, press the "RESET" button. Press the "START" button to change the field. Push the "MODE" button when you are done.
Press the "MODE" button twice to set start setting the alarm. To change the blinking field, press the "RESET" button. Press the "START" button to change the field. Push the "MODE" button when you are done.
To enable/disable the alarm, while in the normal operating mode, push both "START" and "RESET" buttons to toggle the alarm.
To see the alarm setting during normal operation, push and hold the "RESET" button.
Push the "MODE" button once to enter the stopwatch mode. In stopwatch mode, the "START" button starts and stops the stopwatch. The "RESET" button resets the stopwatch to zero.
If you press the "RESET" button while the stopwatch is running, it sets the lap. Push "START" button to stop the stopwatch. Then push "RESET" to see the lap time.
To see the current date during normal operation, push and hold the "START" button.
