Typically, we use biodegradable BB's to be green to mother Earth. But when Evike put up its Professional Grade 0.20g 6mm 5000 round BB's on Labor Day sale for $6, we just couldn't resist giving them a try. The sale cost is roughly half of the Ignite Black Ops Biodegradable BB's from Wal-mart. And it would be great interest to us on how the Evike Professional Grade BB's perform compared to the biodegradable ones.
First of all, the Evike Professional Grade 6MM Airsoft BB's are made with less than 5% internal bubbles. "Each Matrix BB is carefully manufactured into a perfect sphere 5.98mm in diameter for zero jamming." Oops, did they let the cat out of the bag by saying "Matrix BB"? My guess is that Matrix provides these BB's to Evike for resale. Sadly, the Crosman and Ignite biodegradable BB's do not provide quantifiable specs like the Evike Professional Grade BB's. Therefore, we can't do a specification comparison. The Evike professional BB's are made in Taiwan.
Cross-Reference
Evike Professional Grade 6MM Airsoft BB's are the same as Angel Custom Professional Grade 6mm Airsoft BB's. See our Angel Custom Professional Grade 6mm Airsoft BB (0.2g) Review.
The Evike Professional Grade 6MM Airsoft BB's comes in a plastic bag, much like fish pellets. It's completely sealed, but has a easy to open cut-away on top. Once you rip the top off, you can open the zip-lock bag. The integrated zip-lock allow you to reseal the BB's in the bag, so that you don't need another container for the BB's.
Unlike the biodegradable BB's, which has a very strong smell, the first thing we noticed when we opened the 5000 count bag is that there isn't much of a smell. Each Evike Professional Grade BB seems uniform with no seams. In addition, when we dig our hand into the bag, grabbing a handful, and dumping them into the bag, the BB's create crisp, hard sounds. The BB's seem to be glossier and harder than the biodegradable BB's.
We loaded the BB's into several M4 rifle magazines and a 1911 pistol magazine. They seems to load fine and doesn't cause any jam. We fired Evike Professional Grade rounds into our target 10 feet away. Then we fired Crosman Biodegradable rounds at the same distance. We did not change hop-up setting between the two types of BB's. The accuracy seems to be identical, at 20 feet, between the two BB's, even though they are made out of completely different material. Our chrono also shows no difference in speed between these two types of BB's.
