A few days ago, Airsoft Megastore started a clearance on the "Airsoft SY-Tactical P726 / P826 Gas Blowback Pistol Metal Magazine" for $10.47. That's a super great The title of the magazine seems peculiar, since I never heard of the P726 nor the P826. Looking at the magazine online closely, it seems the SY-Tactical P726/P826 magazine is exactly the same as the WE F226 (a Sig Sauer P226 replica) magazine. So I have taken the plunge and order three of them.
In this article, we will examine the Airsoft SY-Tactical P726 / P826 Gas Blowback Pistol Metal Magazine and compare it closely with the WE F226 magazine. The we will test compatibility with the WE F226. We have already try the KJW P226 magazine in the WE F226 (see the article elsewhere on this web site). So if the SY-Tactical magazines work with the WE F226, they may work with the KJW P226 as well.
Upon receiving the packaging, we found all of the packaging to be slightly open (see photo above). Two of the magazines were brand new. One of them showed signs of slight use. When we pressed the gas release button, a little bit of gas hissed out. In addition, we see marks close to the screw at the bottom of the mag. But all of the magazines seemed to be in great shape.
The color and design of the packaging looks rather ugly. Surprisingly, the packaging actually says Shun Yang Toys P226 Accessories. No where does it say "SY-Tactical P726 / P826". I can understand Airsoft Megastore putting a spin on the "Shun Yang Toys" brand to turn it into "SY-Tactical" for the American market. But I'm clueless to the P726/P826 spin. From this point on, this article will refer to the magazine using its true brand.
The Shun Yang Toys P226 magazine is compared to the WE F226 magazine in the photo above. Bottom mag is the Shun Yang Toys version. Top mag is the WE F226 mag. The gas release button is slightly different, but functions the same. Other than that, there is really no difference between the two mags.
The photo above shows the bottom of the two magazines. The Shun Yang Toys P226 magazine is on the left, while the WE F226 magazine is on the right. The gas inlet is slightly different, but operates no differently. The Shun Yang Toys magazine has a 3mm hex screw, whereas the WE F226 magazine has a Phillips screw.
The photo above shows the front of the magazines. The Shun Yang Toys P226 magazine on the bottom, while the WE F226 magazine on top. The front of the magazines shows more distinct visual difference. The springs are different colors. And the BB pushing head at the end of the spring has different fingernail gripping design. Both other than that, they function the same.
The Shun Yang Toys P226 Magazine inserts right into the WE F226. And it seems to be more compatible with the WE F226 than the WE F226 magazine. Whereas the WE F226 magazine may be inconsistent with locking in without a slam, the Shun Yang Toys P226 Magazine seems to click into place without any issues.
However, the Shun Yang Toys P226 Magazine body seems to be little wider. As releasing the magazine causes it to hang halfway, rather than dropping freely. A gentle tuck will remove the magazine.
We have not had a chance to shoot with this magazine in the WE F226, but we plan to do so next week. Full report coming then.
