The FieldSport TL-RLM Laser Sight is a 635 - 655 NM red laser sight. It's in an extremely small package that is great for handguns. It is available for $16 on Amazon (see "Related Links" below), marketed under the HFIRE brand. The Amazon listing actually shows a different product, but in similar foam-factor. In this article, we are going to closely examine this laser sight.
The FieldSport TL-RLM Laser Sight comes in a simple packaging that is bright red (see photo below).
The only instruction is on the back side of the package (see photo below). Click on the image below to see the full size image, which serves as the online instruction manual.
The packaging includes the laser sight, two hex wrenches, and three AG-9 batteries (see photo below).
The battery compartment is right next to the laser sight as shown in the photo below. Because of the battery compartment placement, the laser sight is very short, but the laser is off-center.
As mentioned before, the laser is off-center. So unlike other laser sights, where the laser aiming point has parallax effect in only one axis, the FieldSport TL-RLM actually have the parallax effect in both the vertical and horizontal axises. Photo below shows the front profile of the laser sight.
The FieldSport TL-RLM Laser Sight has a single rubber button on the back side. It's small and low-profile so that it doesn't get in the way. But it is quite accessible and easy to activate. The button is three states: 1) on; 2) pulse; and 3) off. The pulse mode supposedly cut battery consumption by 50% (as claimed by other laser sights that has this mode). Unfortunately, the packaging doesn't provide the pulsing specification, so we won't know how much actual power saving the FieldSport TL-RLM Laser Sight pulse mode provides.
As small as the FieldSport TL-RLM Laser Sight is, it takes up Picatinny real estate. But at the same time, it gives it back with a two slot rail (see photo below) on the other side. This rail is removable via two hex screws. A small hole in the rail allows you to adjust elevation/windage, depending on the orientation you mount this laser sight.
The other elevation/windage adjustment in through the hole on the side (see photo below).
FieldSport TL-RLM Laser Sight can mount to Picatinny rail or Weaver rail. Photo below shows the mount bracket.
Interesting enough, the rail bracket is tied down with two small Phillips head screws. In order to mount this laser sight, you have to actually remove these two screws as shown in the photo below.
The two-slot Picatinny rail can also be remove to reduce the size of this already tiny laser sight. Use a hex wrench to remove the two screws. There is a little bit of glue (see photo below), but the laser sight and the Picatinny rail is easily separated by hand.
