The Emerson FAST Type Tactical Airsoft Helmet is modeled after the Op-Core FAST combat helmet, which is loaded with features. Short of providing real ballistic protection, the airsoft version provide sufficient head protection for the sport of airsoft and paintball. In this article, we are going to review this helmet, which we have purchased through Evike's Epic Deal.
The Emerson FAST Type Tactical Airsoft Helmet comes in a nice matte rectangular box with a transparent window. The box is well made and re-usable, allowing you to store the helmet when its not in use. The design looks professional and pleasing.
The only content is the helmet and some extra paddings. There is no instruction manual.
The photo below is the Emerson FAST Type Tactical Airsoft Helmet. As you can see there are tons of Velcro patches, rails, and mounts. This airsoft helmet replicates the latest in FAST helmet technology.
As you can see from the photo above, this particular helmet has a nicely painted honeycomb camouflage design. The helmet is assembled completely, then painted. That's why the Velcro, rails, and mount all has this design pattern. Emerson makes this helmet in many different painted styles.
The paint is matte, but even so, I've heard of stories where bare helmets is highly reflective to direct sunlight. I've heard stories of the enemies spotting my friend's location due to helmet reflection just a few weeks ago. So even though Emerson has painted the camouflage nicely, you'll still want to get your own helmet cover or use other means of camouflage.
There is a 10cm foam cushion on the inside of the helmet (see photo below). It's like bicycle helmets, which protects your head from impact. Airsoft and paintball are sport activities, so this kind of protection is highly welcome.
Emerson provides soft paddings in various area of the bump cushion (see photo below). These paddings are attached via Velcro, allowing to be removed and moved. Emerson includes extra paddings for you to customize the comfort.
Like any helmet, it requires chin-straps to stay on your head (see photo below). The chin-straps are adjustable and has a snap quick-release.
The FAST helmet contains many mechanical parts. Normally you don't have to disassembly the helmet. But if you want to upgrade it or repair it, we provide the instructions here.
First, loosen the bungee cords to avoid any snapping when we remove the ARC rails.
Next, remove the two screws holding down the ARC rails on each side of the helmet. These screws also holds the chin straps in place.
After removing the chin straps and the ARC rails, you can remove the head cushion foam. It's attached to the hard helmet shell via two Velcro patches. You'll have to work the foam lose slowly. But once it's out, you'll see it in full, like the photo below.
The photo below shows the hard plastic shell with the Velcro patches.
To remove the visor, you'll have to unscrew the two screws in the photo below. Emerson sells replaceable visors in case yours is damaged or scratched up.
Although the NVG mount screws on the outside is fake, the NVG mount is actually removable. The screws are located within the helmet (see photo below).
