Create Your Battle Plan Using Satellite Imagery

Government agencies use satellite imagery to gather intelligence and plan for military operations for years. Now you can use similar technology for your airsoft/paintball battles. The satellite imagery technology available to you and I is called Google Maps.

Google Maps has provided graphical maps and routes for getting to different places. But every since Google introduced satellite overlay on their graphical maps, it has became phenomenally more useful in many other purposes. One such purpose is the gathering of intelligence on airsoft and paintball fields.

Let's take a look at an example. SC Village is a well-known southern California airsoft/paintball field. Being outdoor, it's a prime candidate for reconnaissance. Pulling up SC Village on Google Maps, turn on satellite and turn off labels could yield a map similar to the attached screen shot. The screen shot is the Baghdad field in SC Village.

When you zoom close enough on Google Maps, you can see the 45 degrees version (map on the left in the screen shot). You can turn off 45 degree view to get the top-down version (map on the right in the screen shot). Using both of these maps, you can scout terrain features, identify possible covers, and plan attack routes all from the comfort of your home... er... I mean your top secret fortress.
