Slipping on Airsoft BB

Several weeks ago, we went to SC Village for some airsoft fun. During the night, I ran out into the market on the SC Viper field. There were tons of BBs on the ground. I slipped in my tennis shoes and dropped my Echo1 Red Star IGOR VSS Vintorez. Luckily, it still shot straight, but the stock was cracked.

My friend also slipped on BBs that night. Luckily, he didn't drop his M4. He was also wearing tennis shoes. He slipped on BBs again this past weekend at Code Red.

Is it the tennis shoes that we were wearing? Would you slip on combat boots? Or is it just too many BBs for any shoes?
