Code Red Zombie Night Load Out

Code Red Airsoft Park is sponsoring the zombie night once again this Saturday, April 12th. It's a resource limited game where you can bring a pistol, MP7, MP9, or a shotgun. And you are limited to 50 rounds per mission. Typically, I use AEG rifles with red dot scope at an airsoft game. So I'm at a slight loss to what my load out should be for this zombie night. What's your load-out?

I don't have a MP7 nor a MP9. So my obvious load-out would be the Sig Sauer P226 and an extra magazine. That would give me 44 rounds per mission. But that doesn't give me a red dot sight. And a laser and/or flashlight on it would mean it's not holster-able.

It seems a MP7 or a MP9 with a 50 round capacity magazine would be the best choice. Because you can maximize the ammo, it would be sling-able, and you can mount a red dot sight on it. And there would be plenty of space to mount a flash light.

Another option is to get a CAA Roni Carbine conversion for the pistol. Then you can sling it, mount a red dot sight on it, and make it even more accurate with the shoulder stock. Don't forget the flashlight.

As for the vest. Not sure if it is necessary, as there is really not much to carry. You can only have a gun and a foam knife of some kind. I guess you can always use the vest pockets for water bottles.

If you have night vision, bring that. That would definitely be helpful in the dark.

Knee-pads will always be helpful. Especially if you are going to play the zombie part. You can then fall on your knee with hurting it.

Any other ideas for a great zombie load out?

Thinking a little more about the load out, an AEG or AEP will provide more consistent results. The zombie night goes from 5 PM to 12 PM. As the midnight hour approaches, the temperature starts cooling. Any GBB or CO2 guns are going to shoot softer and softer through the night. An AEG or AEP will not have this problem. Luckily, the Code Red zombie night is in southern California during spring, so temperature should be a minor issue. And if you want to go gas, CO2 is less susceptible to temperature change than green gas (propane), due to its higher pressure point.

Code Red zombie night is coming around again this Saturday. Using prior experience, I'm adjusting my loadout a bit. The pistol is the primary weapon, so there is no point to holstering it. Instead, you should sling it like a rifle. Most pistols have a retention loop at the bottom of the handgrip.

Next, practical engagement distance at a zombies night games is from 5 feet to 20 feet. Beyond that, there is no point to shoot the zombies, because you'll just give your position away. It's about 5 feet to 10 feet when breaching and clearing. With such a short engagement distance, the 5x nightvision scope that I brought last time is useless. Instead a 1x nightvision is better. But the ones suitable for breaching and clearing is around $500 or more. If you got one, great, bring it. The next best thing is the DIY Inexpensive Night Vision.

Unfortunately, my crew just thought of that idea, so we won't have it in time for Saturday. Instead, some of us are settling for a red dot sight, a flashlight, and a laser. Photo below shows my science fiction zombie hunting pistol; it's zombies apocalypse after all.
