I just got a Sig Sauer SP2022 airsoft pistol that uses CO2 cartridge. But when I screw it in, it hisses a lot. I screw it in really tight and the screw cap pops (plastic magazine), leaking the entire cartridge. By the third CO2 canister, I have figured out the tightest I can screw in before popping the screw cap. But even then, the gas is hissing out.
I can fire the gun and I have shot over 50 rounds all the while the magazine is hissing away. After a while, I think it's on the order of 1 or 2 hours, the CO2 canister would leak to depletion.
This is the first time I have a CO2 airsoft gun. I'm guessing the continuous hissing is not normal, right? I have a green gas P226 and it doesn't exhibit this kind of problem. Is the CO2 magazine suppose to leak? Or is this a defective magazine?

Ok. I solved the problem. I removed the CO2 cartridge valve (see photo below) inside the magazine. Its thread was reversed. So to unscrew it, I had to rotate it clockwise with a long flat head screwdriver.
The valve has a red o-ring (see photo below). I lubricated the o-ring with silicone oil. Then I screwed it back.
That didn't really fix the seal. But that did ensure that it won't be leaking at the o-ring.
Next, I used the Teflon tape around the CO2 canister neck (see photo below).
That improved the seal, but it still leaked. However, two layers of Teflon tape seemed to do the trick. There were just a tiny amount of leak. It was sufficient for the CO2 cartridge to last the night. I suspect three layers will be even better.
