So I have been reading about the accuracy of flat hop. People are talking about getting torso size groupings out to 300 feet. That's pretty amazing, but is it true? Have you had any experience with flat hop?
Next, I noticed how pricey the rubber flat hop nubs are. Most places sell just the flat rubber nub, which is called "Firefly Buffer Rubber", for $15 a piece. I can get H-hop nubs for only a few bucks. There are tons of oversea sellers, but very few U.S. sellers. I did manage to find the following flat hop nub and smooth bucking combos for $15 shipped on Amazon:
I'm not sure I understand why everyone keep using rubber nubs. Especially considering that everyone suggest you put a metal pin though the flat hop nub. From my experience plastic H-hop nubs are far more accurate and consistent compared to any rubber nubs that I've tried. Plus, the rubber bucking already provides the "soft" rubber surface for BB contact.
What I'm driving at is that maybe plastic flat hop nubs will provide more accurate and consistent results... saving you from having to find a metal pin. Could probably make 3D printed flat hop nubs out of nylon polymer (plastic) for less than $15 a piece.
What do you guys think of all this?
