The APS AEG airsoft guns have the electronic blowback (EBB) feature. It's a fun feature that simulates real gun effect. But if it's not something you want on your gun, you can disable it. Benefits to disabling the EBB: 1) less taxing on your motor and gears; 2) quieter operation.
Note that to disable this functionality, you must take apart the gearbox. If you are familiar with gearbox disassembly and reassembly, then it will be a piece of cake.
First thing you need to do is to get the metal gearbox out of your gun. There are many instructions out there for the various gun, so I won't go over it here. Once the gearbox is out, you'll see the blowback shuttle system right on top. The photo below shows the APS blowback shuttle system from the APS ASR106 Mini Patriot M4. This same shuttle system is used on many APS guns.
Remove the two screws to remove the metal plate.

Next, open up the gearbox. Here is a video that shows you how to take apart this gearbox:
Once the gearbox is apart, you can remove the blowback shuttle. The blowback shuttle is the gray metal piece where the metal plate was screwed down to (see previous photo). Finally, reassemble the gearbox and put it back into the gun.

I got a new APS gearbox for my APS ASR106. This new EBB gearbox has a number of differences... It's silver, comes with metal bushings, the spring can be replaced without taking apart the gearbox, and the electric blowback (EBB) plate is screwed onto the side and hooks into the gearbox.
Disabling the EBB on this gearbox is even easier than the original gearbox. For one thing, you don't have to open up the gearbox. In fact, you don't have to even pull the gearbox out of the lower receiver. All you have to do to disable the EBB is to unscrew one screw that the EBB plate slide on. See the black screw in the photo below.

Then simply remove the EBB plate (see photo below). Once you have removed the plate, the spring will be revealed. It's held to the gearbox via a pin. You can use a punch to remove the pin and the spring. But keeping the pin and spring on the gearbox also doesn't heart.
Keep the plate, the screw, the pin, and the spring in a safe place, in case you ever want to re-enable the EBB function.

Title: Evike Bone Yard: APS ASR106 Mini Patriot M4
Weblog: GearHack
Excerpt: While browsing airsoft rifles, I came across the APS ASR106 Mini Patriot M4. It's a full metal gun with no stock and very short barrel. It's almost like a pistol with electronic blowback. Intrigued, I dug some more and found Evike selling this gun in its bone yard stock for $89. Evike claims that th . . .
