After completing the design of the Helio M726 Underbarrel Shotgun, we went right to work on the design of the Helio M7203 Underbarrel Grenade Launcher. After all, the Helio futuristic design had all the curves and the lines in all the right places for an efficient, elegant, science fiction look. We wanted that same futuristic characteristics on a science fiction 40mm airsoft grende launcher.
We took the Helio M726 and scaled it up for a 40mm airsoft grenade shell. We made all the appropriate changes to make it work. Then we changed the visual cues to make the Helio M7203 unique, awesome, and still retain the original Helio design cues. Right now, the design is complete and it is in prototype stage (see our 3D model below). Prototyping would entail making 3D prints, test operation with airsoft grenades, test fit on airsoft guns, and trying it in an actual airsoft game to ensure it will standup to a full game day.
The problem, we do not currently have the funding to build and test prototypes. It is going to take time for the revenue source to catch up. We have looked into Kickstarter funding to see if we can get the Helio M7203 Underbarrel Grenade Launcher into the production stage faster. Upon creating the project, we hit a potential snag. Kickstarter prohibits projects related to "Weapons, replicas of weapons, and weapon accessories." We are not sure if the Helio M7203 falls into this category, because it is not a weapon and, being science fiction, is not a replica of a real weapon. Does toy "weapon" fall into this prohibition? We have sent the following e-mail to Kickstarter for clarification:
"I have reviewed the Kickstarter's prohibited list. However, I'm not clear whether my project is prohibited on Kickstarter. The project is a science fiction airsoft grenade launcher, which could be considered as a toy. The Kickstarter prohibited list includes "Weapons, replicas of weapons, and weapon accessories." This futuristic airsoft grenade launcher is not a weapon and is not a replica of an existing weapon. But it is a toy "weapon". Does it still fall in this category?"
Kickstarter Community Manager, Luke, responded with the following e-mail just a day later:
"Hi there,
Thanks for writing in. In general, we don't allow airsoft weapons on Kickstarter."
So that put a damper on our funding idea. Until funding source materializes, the Helio M7203 Underbarrel Grenade Launcher will be on our drawing board. We look forward to the day that the Helio M7203 materializes in the airsoft community to move the airsoft industry another step into the future. For now, feast your eyes on our Helio M7203 3D model below.

Our funding for this project has came through. After three months, we are finally able to get a prototype on our hand. The prototype works! So our Helio M7203 airsoft grenade launcher is now at the production stage, ready for sale! Check out these prototype images.
The Helio M7203 is now available in three different lengths on our Airsoft3D store:
